Come back soon for news about our next Shorts Contest theme!

360 | 365 Shorts Contest Party

Co-sponsored by The Little Theatre

Join us on Monday, February 1st at 6:30 for another rollicking round of shorts. This time filmmakers were faced with the following challenge: the films can be only 3 minutes in length and somebody must get a pie in the face.

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Join us at the Little (240 East Ave.) beginning at 5pm in the cafe where you can treat yourself to dinner, schmooze with the filmmakers, and meet some of our staff. Then, at 6:30, we’ll head into the theatre for a screening of all the entries and the awarding of the $1,000 prize to the winner! Tickets are $5.00, come out and support your local filmmakers.

Current Theme: “Pie in the Face”

The theme for our second Shorts Contest is PIE IN THE FACE. That’s right – if you’ve always wanted to let a pie fly, now you have an “artistic” excuse!! At some point during your short film (3 minutes or less) someone needs to get a pie in the face. Tell us the story, develop the characters, and let fly!

$1,000 Grand Prize
plus a publicized screening at the 2010 Rochester High Falls International Film Festival

Submit your short film (three minutes or less) by 11:59 p.m. (US ET) on January 15, 2010.

Film is in our blood and this is where we prove it.

“The late Orson Welles said, near the end of his life, that the day is coming, thanks to the ease of today’’s hands-on technology, when anybody can make a movie. The challenge is to make ‘em GOOD. That’’s your challenge if you”d like to be part of the High Falls Film Festival. Make a movie about Rochester, on the Coming Home theme, that”ll cause me to bring my No. 10 rating out of retirement! Hopefully, we”ll see your entry soon, and then see you later at the Fest!”
- JACK GARNER, film critic

Every 3 months we release a theme. Filmmakers have roughly 12 weeks to produce a film that’’s 3 minutes or less – “Short”! Contestants capture their thoughts, imagination and interpretation of the theme and submit their film. At the end of the contest, all the films will be reviewed by the panel of judges. Three winners are then selected.

A screening of the winning films occurs at the Shorts Screening Party, which celebrates the winners, at the end of each Shorts cycle. During the 360 | 365 Film Festival, winners of each contest will be shown during the Shorts Fest. The Grand Prize winner of each contest wins $1,000 and passes to the Festival.

Young and old, amateur and professional, the Shorts Contest is for everyone. Put your brand on a fun and creative year round celebration of the imagination!

Many thanks to our sponsors!
